Turn the soil...
Matthew 13:18-23
18 “So listen to what the parable of the sower means.19 Whoever hears the message about the Kingdom, but doesn’t understand it, is like the seed sown along the path — the Evil One comes and seizes what was sown in his heart. 20 The seed sown on rocky ground is like a person who hears the message and accepts it with joy at once, 21 but has no root in himself. So he stays on for a while; but as soon as some trouble or persecution arises on account of the message, he immediately falls away. 22 Now the seed sown among thorns stands for someone who hears the message, but it is choked by the worries of the world and the deceitful glamor of wealth, so that it produces nothing. 23 However, what was sown on rich soil is the one who hears the message and understands it; such a person will surely bear fruit, a hundred or sixty or thirty times what was sown.”
Jesus explained the parable... The reading above, I believe is simple. If we try to complicate this understanding and message, we will miss the basic Truth Jesus is sharing.
There are many different types of people in the world. There are different learning styles. Most people learn best if they can touch and see what is happening. This parable gives insight to those understandings.
Some people don't really listen at all. They just go along for the fun, but don't really care. Some people will "hear" a message and respond immediately. Over time, the message dulls, pain happens, and they don't care anymore. There are also people who begin to grow and seem to be ready to move forward, but money appeals and they simply "want more..."
The (obvious) person we should desire to be is the last one. Someone who is willing to grow and bear fruit. Someone who is ready to learn, listen and mature.
All throughout the Word of God there are teachings about becoming mature, growing, bearing fruit. Only those who truly desire to learn will want to do that. Open to new thoughts, ideas, understandings. Digging in to gain insight to the "secrets of the Kingdom."
God wants our WHOLE being. Not just a root, or a leaf... He wants us to be willing with everything we have inside of us. Always ready to learn more. Always ready to understand more. Just because we are "mature physically" doesn't mean we are mature spiritually.
We should always be asking Him for new insight. We should always be reading with new eyes to see new thoughts. We should always be hearing His Spirit and ready for new understandings.
May you find ways to GROW today in Spirit and Truth. May you be WILLING to turn the soil of your heart for new seeds to sprout. May you WATER the seeds that have been planted and help them mature and bear fruit.
