Truth and Life

Matthew 28:1-7

After Shabbat, as the next day was dawning, Miryam of Magdala and the other Miryam went to see the grave. 2 Suddenly there was a violent earthquake, for an angel of Adonai came down from heaven, rolled away the stone and sat on it. 3 His appearance was like lightning, and his clothes were as white as snow. 4 The guards were so terrified at him that they trembled and became like dead men. 5 But the angel said to the women, “Don’t be afraid. I know you are looking for Yeshua, who was executed on the stake. 6 He is not here, because he has been raised — just as he said! Come and look at the place where he lay. 7 Then go quickly and tell the talmidim (disciples), ‘He has been raised from the dead, and now he is going to the Galil (Galilee) ahead of you. You will see him there.’ Now I have told you.”

After Shabbat... We know that Shabbat "goes out" after sunset on Saturday evening. In April that would be around 6 pm??? Anytime from dark on Jesus would have left the tomb. The women found the empty grave early Sunday morning.

Another earthquake... A second one? If people didn't have their eyes opened to WHO Jesus was by now...

An angel... People were afraid when they saw them. The angel always had to say, "fear not" or "don't be afraid."

Once again signs. Did people receive them? Did they respond to them?

The angel told the women to go "quickly" to tell the disciples. They were told to "go to the Galilee." Jesus was returning to the North where is "home" was. He was going to be there before them.

If only we had angels more often to bring clear instructions for us today. I do believe they can appear, and do appear to people. I don't believe they have "gone away." Sometimes I think we miss them, or don't believe they are an angel.

The Word of God is clear that we should not "seeK" signs and wonders, but that they will occur. God is going to place people, events, activities... in front of us so that His Word will go forth. We need to be open to receiving and listening to those He sends our way.

What is the BEST message in these verses??? The fact that the angel said, "HE IS NOT HERE."

Thank you Father for the BLESSING of a Messiah who conquered death and the grave. We can have HOPE and LIFE and JOY because of the TRUTH in these verses.

Love and blessings,

Rose
