Some of my favorite...

Proverbs 6:20-23

My son, obey your father’s command,

and don’t abandon your mother’s teaching.

21 Bind them always on your heart,

tie them around your neck.

22 When you walk, they will lead you;

when you lie down, they will watch over you;

and when you wake up, they will talk with you.

23 For the mitzvah is a lamp, Torah is light,

and reproofs that discipline are the way to life.

These are some of my favorite verses in Proverbs. There is no way to break this down because it all flows together.

I realize these are difficult words to read if your parents did not teach you the ways of Adonai. I realize that if you struggled with a mom who was absent and didn't care, this could mean nothing to you. Or, maybe you had a father whose commands were so strict you felt you could not breathe.

Friends, if you are reading this, than I pray Holy Spirit has brought you to an understanding that HE is with you and can teach you. I pray that if your past was not positive, and the pain and hurt from parents (or others) was more than you could handle, that you KNOW Adonai LOVES YOU and wants to walk with you. Start now to take HIS Words and hold them close. I pray our FATHER brings others to surround you as you journey. Sometimes He brings others to cheer us on.

Through it ALL, HE will be the lamp and light for you. Psalm 119:105

Your word is a lamp for my foot

and light on my path.

He will guide you. Trust HIM.

To be a little personal, I don't follow all that my parents taught me anymore, but they taught me A LOT. As I grew and read the Word more myself, I came to different understandings about some things. I believe Holy Spirit wants us to do that. This is why we are called, "the body." Everybody has a different part, but we have to work together as we travel the road. Don't let a "different" thought process shut everything down. Boundaries must be made, yes, but learning to walk together is also possible.

I'm not saying "everything goes" by stating we can accept different thought processes. No, we have to realize there are commands and teachings that must be followed. This is why it says, "mitzvah" and "Torah." There are teachings Adonai gave that we need to adhere too. When we do, we find the LIFE He wants us to live.

The word, "mitzvah" is often translated as command. It is. The 613 laws God gave the Children of Israel as they wandered in the wilderness and came to Mt Sinai, those are mitzvah to keep them healthy and on the right path. By obeying them their nation/people were sustained.

We still have commands that are beneficial for us to follow today. What we eat can affect us. How we drive can bring positive or negative results. We often forget how much we follow commands that are really from Adonai Himself! The "world" adapted them because they work!

Torah is teaching... Sometimes it is translated "law," but it is so much more than that! The depth that can be gleaned when we want to learn and listen, it really will become a light and lamp to our path. Torah has so much inside of it, and when we take the time to actually read it we are amazed.

I hope that today you will stop and let HIS Words be your lamp and life. I pray that you don't walk away from reproof or discipline, but that you LISTEN to Him and walk a path that is filled with HIS peace.

Love and blessings,

Rose
