Lead me BACK...

Yesterday I gave you only the Lord’s Prayer. Simple yet profound. How does one follow that? I went back and forth today because I wasn’t sure what to share and I had several verses in my mind. I settled on one from Psalm.

Psalm 139:23-24

Examine me, God, and know my heart;

test me, and know my thoughts.

See if there is in me any hurtful way,

and lead me along the eternal way. (CJB)

I am sure everyone has read this verse before, or heard it. It is pretty straight forward and DIRECT. The question I have to ask myself is, do I want God to examine my heart? Do I WANT Him to TEST me? Do I WANT Him to really know what I am thinking?

What IF He found a hurtful way in our thoughts. What would happen if He found something He wanted to remove?

I chose to read this in The Passion Translation also. It is pretty profound.

God, I invite your searching gaze into my heart.

Examine me through and through;

find out everything that may be hidden within me.

Put me to the test and sift through all my anxious cares.

See if there is any path of pain I’m walking on,

and lead me back to your glorious, everlasting ways—

the path that brings me back to you. (TPT)

I love the first line of this translation. It says, “I INVITE your searching gaze…” David clearly said that God had access to EVERYTHING inside of him. He opened his heart to his Abba/Creator.

This translation also uses the words, “find out EVERYTHING that may be hidden” and “sift through ALL my ANXIOUS cares.”

Verse 24 says, “Lead me back…” and the “path that brings me BACK to YOU.”

These words imply that David is truly letting God LEAD him. David will FOLLOW!

Today, stop and think about WHO you are following. Are you letting GOD LEAD you? Are you letting Him SEARCH you? Are you FOLLOWING?

Love and blessings,

Rose
