In Sync with Him

Matthew 18:15-20

15 “Moreover, if your brother commits a sin against you, go and show him his fault — but privately, just between the two of you. If he listens to you, you have won back your brother. 16 If he doesn’t listen, take one or two others with you so that every accusation can be supported by the testimony of two or three witnesses. 17 If he refuses to hear them, tell the congregation; and if he refuses to listen even to the congregation, treat him as you would a pagan or a tax-collector. 18 Yes! I tell you people that whatever you prohibit on earth will be prohibited in heaven, and whatever you permit on earth will be permitted in heaven. 19 To repeat, I tell you that if two of you here on earth agree about anything people ask, it will be for them from my Father in heaven. 20 For wherever two or three are assembled in my name, I am there with them.”

Verse 16 that is bolded above is actually from Deuteronomy 19:15

15 “One witness alone will not be sufficient to convict a person of any offense or sin of any kind; the matter will be established only if there are two or three witnesses testifying against him.

Jesus has once again brought His teachings from Torah. This shows that the commands Adonai gave the Children of Israel were still relevant and worthy of being taught and followed. This lesson is about how to handle those within the community who have sinned. The Word teaches that we do have the ability to speak to them and bring the offense to their attention.

We need to agree together and work as a team as much as possible. Being a community and body we should be permitting His Truth here on earth. We want HIS will to be done, which means understanding His teachings, which include those from the Torah.

Often times these verses are used to "claim His blessings." Because it says, "if two of us agree about anything, than it will be for them..." people often try to believe God has a blessing for them and if they just believe He will grant it.

What happens if that "blessing" doesn't happen? What if the plans seem to fail? How does this affect the person who was believing? Sometimes it causes them to doubt and lose hope.

Once again there must be balance between "claiming" and "listening." Sometimes God has a bigger and better plan. Sometimes God knows that what we THINK we want isn't really what we need.

We must go back to being like children. Children have to trust that their parents know what is best for them. Naps. Not too much sugar. Being careful on the monkey bars and focusing. Children who like to "defy" their parents, often end up with more scrapes and bruises. Children who listen to their parents should have a more balanced lifestyle and find ways to make mistakes and learn from them.

As adults, we can be the same way. We can think we are listening to Holy Spirit, but we are really defying what He desires. We can become stubborn and want our own things. We must be willing to admit when we are wrong and turn from being stubborn. Working with Holy Spirit, not against Him, is the desired result.

God has a plan. When we are in sync with Him plans will come together. When we work with Him than we will soar. If it feels like something isn't working, just trust that He is working something else out. Check your spirit to make sure that you are in His alignment and have no offense with anyone, than keep moving forward. He is WITH you. He will take care of you.

Love and blessings,

Rose
