Cry Bitterly

Matthew 26:69-75

69 Kefa (Peter) was sitting outside in the courtyard when a servant girl came up to him. “You too were with Yeshua from the Galil,” she said. 70 But he denied it in front of everyone — “I don’t know what you’re talking about!” 71 He went out onto the porch, and another girl saw him and said to the people there, “This man was with Yeshua of Natzeret.” 72 Again he denied it, swearing, “I don’t know the man!” 73 After a little while, the bystanders approached Kefa and said, “You must be one of them — your accent gives you away.” 74 This time he began to invoke a curse on himself as he swore, “I do not know the man!” — and immediately a rooster crowed. 75 Kefa remembered what Yeshua had said, “Before the rooster crows, you will disown me three times”; and he went outside and cried bitterly.

Peter cried bitterly... He had denied His Messiah. He "invoked a curse on himself" when he swore and said he "didn't know the man."

Bystanders approached him. A servant girl. They heard him deny Who He followed.

Why would Jesus/God allow a follower to say these words? This has always been something that puzzled me. If God says our words are important, than why would He even allow one of His followers to utter the words of denial?

The key is, Peter went out and cried bitterly. Peter went out and knew that he had fallen into something he never dreamed he would. He knew that when the pressure was on, he made a mistake. He owned up to his mistake.

This is the lesson for us. God wants us to know that we will make mistakes. We will fall short of what HIS desire is for us. We will walk away from His plans. But, when we REMEMBER that He is in control and we remember that we have "walked away" He will take us back. When we repent and recognize what we have done, HE WILL be there.

Take time today to stop and repent for your mistakes. Cry bitterly if you need too. Let God wash HIS healing Presence over you.

Tears are healing...

Love and blessings,

Rose
