HE is RISEN!
Today is a bit different day… I am celebrating the resurrection of my Savior and Messiah. It is a Tuesday on the day I am writing this in 2019. Why would I celebrate His resurrection on a Tuesday?
First, here is a verse about when it happened in the year Jesus died…
but the next day, while it was still very early, they took the spices they had prepared, went to the tomb, and found the stone rolled away from the tomb! (CJB)
The end of chapter 23 has the following words:
On Shabbat the women rested, in obedience to the commandment;
Because of this statement, the words, “but the next day…” means that it was the first day of the week (which we know as Sunday). The year Jesus died He did raise again on a Sunday.
However, the Hebrew calendar changes and Nisan 14 (the first day of Passover) changes every year. This year Passover began on a Friday night. In order to get 3 days and 3 nights, as we count forward we realize that the women would have gone to the tomb early Tuesday morning (one of the Gospel’s says, “while it was still dark”).
In some ways people say this is “insignificant” because we celebrate on Sunday now and all is well… Yes, we can celebrate His resurrection on Sunday. However, like any birthday or anniversary, I like to celebrate on the day it happened. In this case - Nisan 17.
There are many things I could write about this… I just want to focus on the fact that HE is RISEN and that IS the most important. We don’t have to worry! We don’t have to fear!
Believe today that HE is sitting at the right hand of God the Father and READY to care for YOU! YOU have eternal LIFE because of ALL HE has done.
