HE can calm the storm...
We have reached another Shabbat. Another time to rest. Today my verse is about being still…
Luke 8:24
They went and woke him, saying, “Rabbi! Rabbi! We’re about to die!” He woke up, rebuked the wind and the rough water; and they calmed down, so that it was still. (CJB)
As we enter Shabbat, I want our focus to be on REST. I want us to think about stopping and LISTENING. Why would I choose the above verse?
JESUS is the one who can CALM the storm. HE is the ONE who can bring PEACE to your soul.
Many of us have storms raging around us. Many of us have things that are causing pain in our world. It is difficult for us to stop and “be still.”
In the middle of the storm, Jesus was sleeping. The disciples were freaking out!
If you have ever been in Israel while a storm and wind are blowing by the Sea of Galilee, you know that the waves can get quite high and dangerous. Boats the size that Jesus would have been in would definitely be in danger of taking on water.
Jesus CLEARLY had control over the wind and waves. HIS command caused the storm to cease.
Today, as you prepare to enter a time of Shabbat rest, BELIEVE that HE is STILL in control. HE can calm your storm. HE can bring PEACE to your life.
ASK Him to make it still. ASK Him for peace. ASK Him to bring calm.
