Give and it will be given...

Proverbs 11:24-27

Some give freely and still get richer, while others are stingy but grow still poorer. 25 The person who blesses others will prosper; he who satisfies others will be satisfied himself. 26 The people will curse him who withholds grain; but if he sells it, blessings will be on his head.

27 He who strives for good obtains favor, but he who searches for evil — it comes to him!

Give... and it will be given to you. Luke 6:38

Give, and you will receive gifts —

the full measure, compacted, shaken together and overflowing, will be put right in your lap. For the measure with which you measure out will be used to measure back to you!”

We can clearly see that Jesus was teaching a principle taught in the Tanakh (all books in the OT). This concept of giving and you will be blessed was not a new understanding. This idea had been taught for years!

So, why do we still find it difficult to give? Reading the Words of Truth above we should be giving everything we have to help others. We should be finding a way to bless them with our (usually over) abundance. Even when we don't seem to have enough, give.

I remember times when we lived in Israel and we were preparing for Shabbat dinner, I would wonder if we would have enough food. Placing it on the table I would pray that it would feed everyone (at the time we had a young couple staying with us, so it was a larger group at times). Even the young man commented that the food seemed to multiply. Everyone would eat and be satisfied.

When we turn out situations over to Him, and we bless others in the midst of everything we put our hands too, then we will find ourselves with more than enough.

Love and blessings,

Rose
