Forgiven
Matthew 26:26-29
26 While they were eating, Yeshua took a piece of matzah, made the b’rakhah (blessing), broke it, gave it to the talmidim (disciples/students) and said, “Take! Eat! This is my body!” 27 Also he took a cup of wine, made the b’rakhah, and gave it to them, saying, “All of you, drink from it! 28 For this is my blood, which ratifies the New Covenant, my blood shed on behalf of many, so that they may have their sins forgiven. 29 I tell you, I will not drink this ‘fruit of the vine’ again until the day I drink new wine with you in my Father’s Kingdom.”
Passover... if you have never experienced one, it is a wonderful meal. It is one filled with mercy and grace.
When Jesus broke the bread (cracker actually because only unleavened bread is used for Passover), He gave a blessing. Most likely it was something like this:
"Blessed are you, Lord our God, King of the Universe, Who brings forth bread from the earth."
The blessing over the wine is something like this:
"Blessed are you, Lord our God, King of the Universe, Creator of the fruit of the vine."
Jesus would never have intended for the disciples to believe that the wine would turn into His blood. It is forbidden in Torah to drink blood from any animal. Jesus would NEVER teach or say anything against what God the Father gave in Torah.
Jesus' blood, however, was the sacrifice spilled out for all of us. Just as the commands taught the people to bring sacrifices to the Temple as redemption for their sins, Jesus' blood was our sacrifice and took all of those sins on Himself.
Every piece of this meal was designed to show us to the Father and bring clarity to the Life of Christ. Every detail should bring us insight into WHO our Messiah is.
I look forward to the day I can celebrate a Passover with my Messiah. I look forward to the day when I can enjoy a glass of "new wine" with Him.
Today, reflect on how He has forgiven YOU. Reflect on the sacrifice He made for you and know that HE LOVES YOU.
