Keep safe the great treasure...
Last night our family watch the movie “Paul, An Apostle of Christ.” Surprisingly, I was impressed with the movie. It seemed to portray an accurate understanding of the end of Paul’s life. Although a bit slow, it is definitely worth watching and should give us all something to think about.
Because of that, today I chose to look at verses Paul wrote. I was drawn to the book of Timothy. I read 1 Timothy and made it to 2 Timothy 1:14:
Keep safe the great treasure that has been entrusted to you, with the help of the Ruach HaKodesh, who lives in us. (CJB)
A great treasure… This verse was written to Timothy by Paul. Paul was reminding Timothy that the WORD hidden inside of him was a great treasure. What he had been taught was something special.
Paul clearly told Timothy that he needs to “use the help of the Holy Spirit” to keep this treasure safe. We are to rely on the Spirit for leading us and guiding us.
Do we have this great treasure? Of course we do! The WORD has been given to us too! The Holy Spirit is inside of us and we need to use that strength to KEEP SAFE the WORD.
There could be a time coming when we cannot access a Bible or the internet to read the Word. We need to make sure it is hidden inside of us so we can always use it for HIS glory.
YOU have been given a GREAT TREASURE. HOLD onto it. KEEP it safe.
