Jesus PRAYED for YOU

I took a week off to be with family. We needed some time together. During those days we kept reading our Daily Torah Portion. There is always a portion at some point during the week from the New Testament. This time it was the prayer Jesus prayed in John 17.

When most people think of the prayer that Jesus prayed they think of the Lord’s Prayer. This one is totally different. You really need to take time to read it.

The verse I chose to read and focus on is John 17:9

“I am praying for them. I am not praying for the world, but for those you have given to me, because they are yours. (CJB)

In this verse it is clear that Jesus prayed for those “You have given to me.” He was praying for people given by the Father to be ONE with Him. He was not praying for the world.

He wanted those who chose to follow Him to be ONE with Him.

But why would I say that Jesus prayed for YOU? Let’s look at verse 20:

I pray not only for these, but also for those who will trust in me because of their word,

This verse shows us that Jesus not only prayed for those who were following Him at that moment, but He prayed for those who WILL TRUST because of the Word.

Friends, Jesus LOVES you. He PRAYED for you.

Take time to read the WHOLE chapter of John 17 and find out how much He cares. He was getting ready for His glory to be revealed, and He prayed for those given to Him by the Father.

I find this comforting. I find this encouraging.

I pray that you do as well. That you can take this verse and claim it as your own today.

Love and blessings,

Rose
