True Shabbat Rest

Matthew 11:27-30

27 “My Father has handed over everything to me. Indeed, no one fully knows the Son except the Father, and no one fully knows the Father except the Son and those to whom the Son wishes to reveal him.

28 “Come to me, all of you who are struggling and burdened, and I will give you rest. 29 Take my yoke upon you and learn from me, because I am gentle and humble in heart, and you will find rest for your souls. 30 For my yoke is easy, and my burden is light.”

I love how Jesus constantly quotes from the Tanakh. From Torah and the Prophets. The Writings of David we know as Psalms. The bolded words above are from the book of Jeremiah 6:16 (another one of my favorite verses):

16 Here is what Adonai says:

“Stand at the crossroads and look; ask about the ancient paths, ‘Which one is the good way?’ Take it, and you will find rest for your souls. But they said, ‘We will not take it.’

In verse 27 Jesus says, "NO ONE fully knows the Father except the Son and those to whom the Son wishes to reveal him." We need to STOP and take time to REST and get to know the Son, and through Him the Father is revealed.

I truly believe that since I have begun to understand Jesus as He needs to be seen - a Jewish man - I have seen the Father revealed even more to me.

Today we enter another Shabbat. Today we can find REST for our souls. When we LEARN from Him what REST is, than our yoke is easy and the burden is light. He is GENTLE and loves you. He is HUMBLE and there for you.

When you stand at the crossroads, and ask about the ancient paths, take it - it truly does bring rest.

Shabbat Shalom,

Rose
