Choose your words wisely...

30 “Those who are not with me are against me, and those who do not gather with me are scattering. 31 Because of this, I tell you that people will be forgiven any sin and blasphemy, but blaspheming the Ruach HaKodesh (Holy Spirit) will not be forgiven. 32 One can say something against the Son of Man and be forgiven; but whoever keeps on speaking against the Ruach HaKodesh will never be forgiven, neither in the ‘olam hazeh (these days) nor in the ‘olam haba (days to come).

Jesus knows how to make a point. He tells His followers that there will be people who are with Him, and those who will scatter and not follow. He wants His disciples to understand that as they travel and teach, there will be lots of different people they will come into contact with. He wants His disciples to speak Truth to those they meet.

At this point, the Holy Spirit has not yet descended upon the disciples. Yet in these verses and at this moment, Jesus says that blaspheming the Holy Spirit will NOT be forgiven. There are soooo many debates about what this actually means. I really do not think that arguing about teachings like this brings any enlightenment to the subject. I know that some arguments are healthy, but too often things are left with anger and frustration, not a "we can work together" mentality.

People do need to understand that there are consequences for actions and words. I think we often forget that what we say and do will affect how others view us. Speaking against Adonai is a commandment (Don't take the name of the Lord your God in vain). We must understand that there is a Spirit connected to Adonai. Speaking against the Holy Spirit will have ramifications, just like when we speak against people around us.

Choose your words wisely. Speak with His Truth, but do it in a way that draws people in, not repels them. Rely on Holy Spirit to guide you. Use His wisdom to keep you close to the Father.

Love and blessings,

Rose
