Claim the blessings
Proverbs 10:22-26 The blessing of Adonai is what makes people rich,
and he doesn’t mix sorrow with it. 23 To a fool, vileness is like a game,
as is wisdom to a person of discernment. 24 What a fool dreads will overtake him,
but the righteous will be given his desire.
25 When the storm has passed, the wicked are gone;
but the righteous are firmly established forever.
26 Like vinegar to the teeth and smoke to the eyes
is a lazy person to his employer. The bl

It is your LIFE
Proverbs 4:10-13 Listen, my son, receive what I say, and the years of your life will be many. 11 I’m directing you on the way of wisdom, guiding you in paths of uprightness; 12 when you walk, your step won’t be hindered; and if you run, you won’t stumble. 13 Hold fast to discipline, don’t let it go; guard it, for it is your life. Sometimes (my opinion here) I think that Proverbs can become a bit redundant. Sometimes you hear the same words over and over. However, we should al

Oath and Commitment
Matthew 5:27-37 27 “You have heard that our fathers were told, ‘Do not commit adultery.’ 28 But I tell you that a man who even looks at a woman with the purpose of lusting after her has already committed adultery with her in his heart. 29 If your right eye makes you sin, gouge it out and throw it away! Better that you should lose one part of you than have your whole body thrown into Gei-Hinnom. 30 And if your right hand makes you sin, cut it off and throw it away! Better that

The Lord is not slow...
We live in a society where we expect everything immediately. We have the thought that if it doesn’t happen when we want than something is wrong. Here is a verse about what we should expect if we are trusting God. 2 Peter 3:9 The Lord is not slow in keeping his promise, as some people think of slowness; on the contrary, he is patient with you; for it is not his purpose that anyone should be destroyed, but that everyone should turn from his sins. (CJB) Chapter 3 should be read

Once again, I will build...
Another new week. Another time to think about BEGINNING new and fresh! Jeremiah 31:3 Once again, I will build you; you will be rebuilt, virgin of Isra’el. Once again, equipped with your tambourines, you will go out and dance with the merrymakers. (CJB) Why is this such an encouragement? Because GOD is REBUILDING! I would say this is a positive way to begin a new week! We can be JOYFUL knowing that HE is in charge of rebuilding. It didn’t matter how many times Israel disobeyed

For you need to HOLD OUT...
Patience… definitely not a word most of us like to hear. I know my children do not like it when I tell them to have patience. And when the following verse popped into my Facebook feed today well… I must say I had to take a big gulp. Hebrews 10:36 For you have need of patient endurance [to bear up under difficult circumstances without compromising], so that when you have carried out the will of God, you may receive and enjoy to the full what is promised. (AMP) I also read this

Like someone comforted...
In the US, today is Mother’s Day. Europe celebrated their Mother’s Day earlier (I think it was in March). In honor of this day that is a special one for most people, I chose a verse from Isaiah. Isaiah 66:13 Like someone comforted by his mother, I will comfort you; in Yerushalayim you will be comforted.” (CJB) In the book of Isaiah God is speaking through the prophet to the Children of Israel. The scattering among the nations, the Temple being gone… Isaiah was sent to remind

Is YOUR mind controlled by the Spirit?
I love to read verses about LIFE. When PEACE is added in, a double blessing. The verse today comes from the New Testament portion of the weekly Torah readings. Romans 8:6 Having one’s mind controlled by the old nature is death, but having one’s mind controlled by the Spirit is life and shalom. (CJB) If I want to have LIFE, I MUST have a mind controlled by the Holy Spirit. LIFE and PEACE (Shalom) are available to me as often as I FILL my mind with HIM! It is often easier to le

Water on the thirsty ground...
As we read our Torah Portion this morning, we also read from the “half Torah” or Prophets. Our chapter today was from Isaiah and several verses spoke to me, but this one was refreshing, especially for a Monday. Isaiah 44:3 For I will pour water on the thirsty land and streams on the dry ground; I will pour my Spirit on your descendants, my blessing on your offspring. (CJB) Pouring water… Streams on dry ground… What wonderful words to hear on a Monday morning when we usually f

Adonai is GOOD...
My mind was drawn to the book of Lamentations today. I’m not sure why because I often think of it as a “depressing” book of the Bible. It is full of “laments.” However, there are some pretty important promises tucked away in there as well. Lamentations 3:25-26 Adonai is good to those waiting for him, to those who are seeking him out. It is good to wait patiently for the saving help of Adonai. (CJB) Adonai is GOOD! I believe I can say AMEN to that. HE IS good…. To those WAITIN
