Who is it that OVERCOMES?
Today I decided to look for a verse on FAITH. The first one that showed up is one that was a huge encouragement to me back in college. I forget when I first “claimed” it as a life verse, but it has always been on that brings STRENGTH and COURAGE to me when I am down. I John 5:5 Who does overcome the world if not the person who believes that Yeshua is the Son of God? (CJB) I actually prefer this verse in the NIV version I learned it in so many years ago… Who is it that overcom

Seek Adonai... you might be HIDDEN!
A small book, yet another filled with promises and TRUTH. Today the verse is from Zephaniah. Zephaniah 2:3 Seek Adonai, all you humble in the land, you who exercise his justice; seek righteousness, seek humility — you might be hidden on the day of Adonai’s anger. (CJB) Hidden in a book not read very often, this verse teaches us humility. This prophet was once again warning the people that they needed to SEEK GOD. So many were turning away from what Adonai truly wanted them to

Always try to do GOOD...
I was thinking of the word, “trust” today and then when I saw this verse I decided to use it. Why???? The word trust isn’t even in it! I Thessalonians 5:15 See that no one repays evil for evil; on the contrary, always try to do good to each other, indeed, to everyone. (CJB) So often we want to just repay what someone “deserves.” Or what we think they deserve… Obviously this verse tells us that we are to “always do good to each other.” This is something I try to teach my child

God is not so unfair...
I admit to being a little tired today. It is a Thursday. I know Shabbat is coming. Weather this week has been cool, then sunny, than rainy and well… I guess coming off a holiday for several days, I’m just tired. There have also been some circumstances that discouraged me. People not getting along. People who want to get work done for the Kingdom who can’t sort things and “part ways.” There are days that ministry work is tiring (not that other work isn’t - I don’t want to impl

YOU can make me clean...
Our Daily Torah Portions continue to be about clean and unclean things and the last couple chapters have focused on leprosy. I talked about Naaman the other day. Today I want to focus on a story in the New Testament. Matthew 8:2-3 Then a man afflicted with tzara‘at came, kneeled down in front of him and said, “Sir, if you are willing, you can make me clean.” Yeshua reached out his hand, touched him and said, “I am willing! Be cleansed!” And at once he was cleansed from his tz

We too were FOOLISH!
Today is April Fool’s Day. I don’t really get into these types of holidays anymore. A verse I always see on this day is the one that says, “A fool says in his heart there is no God.” This is a verse we need to be reminded about, but I looked up other verses about fools or being foolish. Titus 3:3 For at one time, we too were foolish and disobedient, deceived and enslaved by a variety of passions and pleasures. We spent our lives in evil and envy; people hated us, and we hated

There is FREEDOM!
I have been “off” for the last four days. Our family went to Bucharest, Romania. It is interesting that we have spent quite a bit of time in countries that I, as a young girl into high school, never dreamed I would visit because they were Communist. The Czech Republic, Hungary, Slovenia, and now Romania were all “behind the Iron Curtain” and unavailable to outsiders. Now these places can be visited freely! As we have visited these countries, usually we are in the capital. Som

Are you ALERT?
Today I was drawn to the word, “thanks” again. It is something we are commanded to do, and this verse is another that states it well. Colossians 4:2 Keep persisting in prayer, staying alert in it and being thankful. (CJB) Three things: Persist in PRAYER! Stay alert in PRAYER! Be THANKFUL! Not difficult, but when the worries and cares of life come, it is hard. When the “crap hits the fan” and life just doesn’t go the way we think it should, persisting in prayer and giving than

Valley of Decision
I pondered hard today for a verse. I’m not sure why it was so difficult, but I struggled. Didn’t feel led to share a Psalm. My mind was finally drawn to the book of Joel. So I started reading and ended up in chapter 4 with two verses that our family used to speak out loud every morning at breakfast. Joel 4:13-14 Swing the sickle, for the harvest is ripe; come, and tread, for the winepress is full. The vats are overflowing, for their wickedness is great. Such enormous crowds i

Don't Worry!
Shabbat Shalom! We have Painted Lady butterflies flittering through our yard today as they are on a migration path to Greece. The verse I chose does not have the words “Shabbat or Rest” in it, but the whole context is about rest. They came to my mind because of the butterflies not worrying about anything as they travel. Matthew 6:25-34 “Therefore, I tell you, don’t worry about your life — what you will eat or drink; or about your body — what you will wear. Isn’t life more tha
