Go shut yourself in your house...
As the verses I have been receiving have been about prayer and persisting, today I heard the word, “Lifting.” I looked up verses with this word and found numerous in the book of Ezekiel. Ezekiel 3:24 A spirit entered me and put me on my feet. Then he spoke with me and said to me, “Go, shut yourself inside your house. (CJB) This verse does not have the word, “lift” in it, but it speaks of the Spirit putting him, “on his feet.” He was in essence, “lifted” to a different place.

Without "Kvetching..."
Since we finished the book of Colossians, our family decided to read through Philippians. As we read chapter 2 today a verse that I heard often as a child, and have found myself repeating to my children, was in the middle of it. Because we read it from the Complete Jewish Bible they had an interesting word - a Yiddish one - used. Philippians 2:14 Do everything without kvetching or arguing, (CJB) As my daughter read the chapter she used the word “grumbling.” This is how I reme

Always try to do GOOD...
I was thinking of the word, “trust” today and then when I saw this verse I decided to use it. Why???? The word trust isn’t even in it! I Thessalonians 5:15 See that no one repays evil for evil; on the contrary, always try to do good to each other, indeed, to everyone. (CJB) So often we want to just repay what someone “deserves.” Or what we think they deserve… Obviously this verse tells us that we are to “always do good to each other.” This is something I try to teach my child

Valley of Decision
I pondered hard today for a verse. I’m not sure why it was so difficult, but I struggled. Didn’t feel led to share a Psalm. My mind was finally drawn to the book of Joel. So I started reading and ended up in chapter 4 with two verses that our family used to speak out loud every morning at breakfast. Joel 4:13-14 Swing the sickle, for the harvest is ripe; come, and tread, for the winepress is full. The vats are overflowing, for their wickedness is great. Such enormous crowds i

Set them (YOU) apart as HOLY...
Friends… I want you to know today that God set YOU apart. Several weeks ago I read from a prayer that Jesus prayed before he died. John 17 is a powerful chapter and I know that if you read the whole thing you will be blessed. Today I chose to look at verse 17: John 17:17 Set them apart for holiness by means of the truth — your word is truth. (CJB) Jesus prayed in the garden that YOU would be set apart as HOLY. Do you believe that? Do you KNOW that YOU are chosen to be HIS? Wh

Say NO to yourself and FOLLOW Him...
Many many verses in the Bible are filled with promises. Promises that God will take care of us, love us, and bring us through tough times. They ALL require obedience from us. They all require that we DO something. The verse I chose today is not a “warm and fuzzy” verse, but we must understand that this is what God requires of us. Let’s look at Matthew 16:24 Then Yeshua told his talmidim, “If anyone wants to come after me, let him say ‘No’ to himself, take up his execution-sta

Soft whisper of a voice...
Today as I was trying to think about a verse to share with you, the WIND picked up and was quite strong. I went out to pick up some things that were blowing around and when I came in the kids all said, “Mom! What happened to your hair?” Needless to say, I decided to choose a verse about wind. There are several but I chose I Kings 19:11-13 Then He said, “Come out and stand on the mount before Adonai.”Behold, Adonai was passing by—a great and mighty wind was tearing at the moun

What is YOUR mind focused on?
Today I chose to read several verses. It did not make sense to break them apart. Sometimes in the book of Psalms you just have to keep paragraphs together. Here is Psalm 66:16-20 Come and listen, all you who fear God, and I will tell what he has done for me. I cried out to him with my mouth, his praise was on my tongue. Had I cherished evil thoughts, Adonai would not have listened. But in fact, God did listen; he paid attention to my prayer. Blessed be God, who did not reject

My people are hanging in suspense...
Today in our Daily Torah reading we actually read from Hosea. Many people think that the Torah portion is just about the first five books from the Bible. For the most part it is. However, with every Torah portion there is a “half torah” portion that is also read. This part is from the prophets. The verse that stuck out to me is Hosea 11:7 My people are hanging in suspense about returning to me; and though they call them upwards, nobody makes a move. What does this all mean? I
